Sentence Structures

http://images.digopaul.com/

From the text:
As well as noting what the writer has written, consider ho he/she has constructed his/her sentences in the Spa leaflet studied in class. He/she has used a variety of sentence structures to great effect:

  1. Simple: "Imagine having time to stop."
  2.            : "At the Secret Garden Spa, your dreams are our         reality."
  3. Complex: "Whether you are looking for a day away, a weekend or longer, we can create a package perfectly suited to you."
Using a range of different sentence types makes your work more interesting and enjoyable to read.

"What are sentence types, again?"

Activity 2:

Coconut Grove is a new golf course and leisure complex. There is an 18-hole golf course. There is a lush putting green for practice. There is an undercover driving range. We have a purpose-built clubhouse. It has a bar. It has a restaurant. Our award-winning chef prepares gourmet food fresh, everyday. It has a TV lounge. Bring the family to enjoy the facilities. There is a swimming pool. We have a state-of-the-art gym. Call now for membership prices. You won't be disappointed.

Instructions:
Make this a more interesting piece of writing by varying the sentence structures used. You can add or delete words as necessary. You can also try to use some of the persuasive techniques you identified in the spa leaflet: rhetorical questions, repetition, and group of three.

Try and make some careful word choices. For example, what words could you use that have a suitable connotative meaning to add extra depth to your work?

Taken from the textbook: Achieve 4.
